Passionate about Science?

Three minutes is enough time to make tea. But to explain scientific theories about the end of the universe? Or the functions of stem cells? In the FameLab science competition, young scientists have 180 seconds to explain their research topic to the audience and a top-class jury. Technically correct, entertaining and captivating.  Every year, impressive young scientists perform on stage at the FameLab regional heats throughout Germany. The two best participants from each of the preliminary heats then take part in the FameLab Germany finals in Bielefeld, where they compete for the chance to represent Germany at the international FameLab finals.

Bielefeld

• 1st place Karla Wagner, University of Bielefeld, Department of Biochemistry, topic "Alcohol and its brothers and sisters".
• 2nd place Niklas Hoffmann, University of Bielefeld, Department of Biochemical Engineering with Microalgae, topic "Snack to the future - In space no one hears you smacking".
• Audience winner Fabian Schoden, Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, Department of Circular Economy and Renewable Energies, topic "Circular green energy - electricity from fruit tea".

Regensburg

• 1st place and audience winner Mark John Mandigma, University of Regensburg, Department of Chemistry, topic " Oh My Gas, that is ChemisTREE! Chemical synthesis and modification using gas, light, and flow.“
• 2nd place Florian Klein, TU München, Department of Biochemistry/Molecular medicine, topic „Oncolytic virotherapy“

Dresden

• 1st place: Aidee Itandehui Garcia-Zintzun, TU Dresden, Department of Physical chemistry and electrochemistry, topic " Colorado potato beetle tarsi microstructure interaction with glass and SiO₂-particles ".
• 2nd place and audience winner: Anita Waltho, Max Delbrück Centrum Berlin, Department of Molecular Biologye, topic " Oncolytic virotherapy ".
